This is the first of a few recordings I'm going to do called Bindle Songs. Bindle Songs are songs played on tiny instruments. Not all toy instruments, but small instruments that you can carry on your person, in your backpack or in a bindle. I recently got a ukelele and learned three-and-a-half chords on it. I wanted to learn a little bit more about how to record it so I recorded this version of Always a Friend by my pal Alejandro Escovedo. It turned into a little more of an arrangement on small instruments. Bindle Songs was born. Some will hate it, others will - hopefully - like it. My only real aim is to play some music on small, atypical instruments and share those songs.

released April 27, 2011
written by Alejandro Escovedo and Chuck Prophet. Arrangement, and all instruments by John Velghe.
